Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.
Barack Obama This victory alone is not the change we seek - it is only the chance for us to make that change. And that cannot happen if we go back to the way things were. It cannot happen without you. So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism; of service and responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves, but each other.
Victory speech, Nov. 4, 2008
What Washington needs is adult supervision.
Barack Obama This means you.
Never say, What can I do alone? You are not alone. But to be the change we seek, you must make the effort to find those who are with you on your issues. You must make the effort to be with those who need your assistance on their issues. You must have the courage to reach across to those who are not yet with you, but might be, and to stand up to those who are against you, as so many have done to get us where we are today. You do not need to be a superhero, solving problems alone. There are no such superheroes. You may need to be a quiet hero, a member of a community that can turn into a movement, and those are all around us. Or you may be able to be a not-so-quiet hero, and inspire your community and perhaps other communities to be the change we seek.
Here are a few places to look for issues. Ask around for the local communities working on them. Network and use the search engines to find communities online. Or join us here, where we address
all of the issues.
