Obama Explains National Anthem Stance Sun, 07 Sept. 2008 11:48:04 EST, General Bill Ginn' USAF (ret.) asked Obama to explain why he doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played. Senator Obama Live on Sunday states, "As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides", Obama said. "There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression". And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped or something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song "I'd Like To Teach the World To Sing." If that were our anthem, then I might salute it. "We should consider reinventing our National Anthem as well as redesigning our Flag to better offer our enemies hope and love. It's my intention, if elected, to disarm America to the le vel of acceptance to our Middle East Brethren. If we as a Nation of warring people, should conduct ourselves as the nations of Islam, whereas peace prevails, perhaps a state or period of mutual concord would exist between our governments. When I become President, I will seek a pact or agreement to end hostilities between those who have been at war or in a state of enmity, and a freedom from disquieting oppressive thoughts. We as a Nation have placed upon the nations of Islam an unfair injustice.

He is all talk and no substance. I believe he is a nice guy, maybe even a moral guy but that is not nearly enough to hold the highest office in this country. How can he bring about change without knowing how things work. It is ridiculous to even consider him. If you really want change, vote for someone who has been in the trenches bringing about change for years not someone who merely hopes his bright smile and charisma will make things magically better.

We need everybody who volunteered in any way to keep at it. Whether you worked to elect Obama or any of the other progressive candidates all across the country, or on local issues, ordinances, state constitutional amendments, or anything else, we need you to help us reunite our communities and find solutions to our problems. The big problems are not just problems for Democrats, or just for Republicans; or for black, white, green, or purple people (^_^); or for the young or the old; the rich, the poor, or the merely prosperous; or any other slice you can make through society. They are problems for all of us, and we need to find solutions for all of us.

i just saw a clip on TV that showed a young black woman in tears. She was upset about the fact that Hillary did not get the nomination. She said "I don't know if I can connect with Obama." Are you kidding me? She is considering not voting at all!! What's up with this? We are doomed if Hillary supporters don't wake up and understand that our country and future are at stake. Obama turned the whole frigging convention over to the Clintons except for his speech. I would like to understand what the problem is.

My wife disrespects the Flag for many personal reasons. Together she and I have attended several flag burning ceremonies in the past, many years ago. "She has her views and I have mine". Of course now, I have found myself about to become the President of the United States and I have put aside my hatred. i think obama is a great guy bt i really think MCcain has more experiance the only thing i have a problem with is him trying 2 spread the wealth around i mean like if u work hard and ilke u just like lost ur job thats one thing bt if ur a personwho does'nt work hard at all and just expects free like money then thats a problem . for example if you got like straite "As "and another got all Fs on their report card and you had 2 give some of your As to the person who earned all Fs which they didnt work hard for and u did then that is a problem. he also wants to raise taxes so people have to work extra hard to make extra money plus we r going though like a economic crises and he wants 2 raise r taxes?i know change is like good but like this kind of change idk? so, i pick mccain for president bt obama is a great guy but idk for president.

Pithy debate/talking points for Barack Obama
America, we have a choice! Which skipper do you want at the helm of the Good Ship America? Tidal waves and earthquakes of change have hit our shores. We have taken many blows. 9-11, Katrina, Rita and Ike, wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and possibly in Pakistan, mortgage, credit and Wall Street crises in the Financial Meltdown of 2008! In the last week, we have seen the meltdown of Wall Street and John McCain. Which John McCain would be our president? The McCain who says the economy is strong and deregulation is wrong? Or McCain who says the economy is so shaky that he suspends his campaign, impulsively demands the resignation of the SEC Chairman, threatens to cancel the first debate, disses Letterman in favor of makeup with Couric, grandstands at the White house but says nothing for 40 mins, and then leaves it to Obama to attempt negotiation between red dog Republicans and neocon Bushmen! Which skipper do we want? The McCain who can only spin one plate at a time, have only one old thought at a time (tax and spend, tax and spend etc)? Or Obama, who multitasks par excellence (witness the thoughtfulness, grace and consistency of his multi-pronged campaign), and is capable of holding multiple thoughts in his head and carefully sharing them?! Obama knows what a Blackberry can do for him. McCain only knows the blackberries in fruit salads. |
